Fruit bag charms: why apples and cherries are on every bag
Contents
Fruit bag charms are the playful corner of the 2026 charm trend: cherries, apples, grapes and even groceries now hang from serious bags. To wear one well, pick a single fruit in a strong colour, hang it from a handle on a plain bag, and choose one that is useful if you can. Ours is the Apple Mirror Charm, a red leather apple with a glass mirror inside.

The apple charm, and a bag to hang it on
Where the fruit is showing up
In Japan, Fashion Press's 15 October round-up of Coach's autumn 2026 charms featured a cherry dusted in black and silver glitter, a motif it says has enduring popularity at the brand, alongside crocheted cherries, mushrooms and pretzels (Fashion Press). In the US, Phia's edit of the best charms, updated the same day, names Cult Gaia's grape and lists Loewe's apple and peeling orange next to a Ganni raspberry (Phia). Harper's BAZAAR Malaysia traced the wider fruit-and-vegetable micro-trend back to the spring/summer 2026 collections, including Loewe's cherry and artichoke charms and Kate Spade's strawberry, lemon and banana ones (Harper's BAZAAR Malaysia).
Why food, and why now
The joke has reached the supermarket. On 13 October Kraft Natural Cheese announced Pocket Parm, a mini grated cheese bottle that clips onto a bag strap with a collectible charm, handed out from a truck in Los Angeles and from the week of 26 October in Orlando (The Prinsider). In Italy, Mediaset's 19 October report on "charm mania" put street style's one rule in a single word: customisation (Mediaset Infinity). Food is the most readable way to do it. A cherry or an apple says "fun" from across a room, even on a bag that is otherwise strictly business.
How to wear one fruit charm
Our fashion desk's rule: one fruit, one bag, one colour story. A red apple on a black or white bag is the cleanest version; on a translucent jelly bag it shows twice, against the bag and through it. Hang it from the handle ring rather than clipping it to the body, so a metal clasp never scuffs a glossy surface. If you want to layer, as Fashion Press suggests with Coach's stacks, add one charm in a different texture, such as a plush, rather than a second fruit.
Ours does a job as well. The Apple Mirror Charm is 8 cm across, 30 cm cord, £8, with the mirror where you can reach it without unclipping. It goes in the same order as a bag; the East West and the 35cm tote both have handles it hangs from. Common questions
Are fruit bag charms still in style in 2026?
Yes. In October 2026 Fashion Press featured glitter and crocheted cherry charms in Coach's autumn line in Japan, Phia's charm edit (updated 15 October) listed apple, grape and raspberry charms from Loewe, Cult Gaia and Ganni, and Kraft turned a mini Parmesan shaker into a clip-on bag charm in Los Angeles.
Which fruit charm is easiest to wear?
A red one. Cherries and apples are the most common fruit shapes, and red works against black, white and brown bags. One fruit charm on a plain bag looks deliberate; several look like a fruit bowl.
Is there an apple bag charm that does something useful?
The jelli.world Apple Mirror Charm is a red leather apple with a glass mirror set into its face, on a woven red-and-white cord, 8 cm across, 30 cm cord, £8.
Can I buy the Apple Mirror Charm on its own?
Not as a separate order. Orders start at £40, so the charm goes in the same order as a bag, and with a bag in the cart one charm is £6.
