Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai SS27: the bags on Asia’s streets

Fashion month starts in Tokyo and ends in Shanghai. Here is what both ends said about bags.

Short answer: Asia’s SS27 weeks looked more like winter than spring. Tokyo’s showgoers wore black, deep brown and burgundy with, in Vogue’s words, “furry little handbags”; Seoul’s street style at DDP had a gothic edge; and Shanghai (8–16 October) showed muted mineral colours with flashes of red. A small-feeling fluffy bag in brown or black is the Tokyo move; our Fluff bag does it in curly lamb.

Tokyo’s palette — brown, black, burgundy-red — in fur

Tokyo: furry little handbags

Tokyo street style has gone monochromatic with showgoers in head-to-toe black or fall-ready brown. Adding Y2K vibes are beanies, graphic tees, and furry little handbags.

Hypebeast described the week (31 August–5 September) as setting “a surprisingly moody, autumn-leaning tone,” with “head-to-toe black, deep brown, khaki, olive green, and dark burgundy accents.” FashionUnited read it for retailers: consumers are “more interested in pieces that can be combined, personalized and styled across different fashion identities.”

Seoul: an edge on minimal

Vogue’s Seoul gallery (published 5 September) noted “a whiff of the gothic on the streets around DDP,” matching sets, clothing worn backwards, and accessories “imparting an extra edge to otherwise sleekly minimal outfits.” Korea is also where jelly bags took off again this summer; see the jelly bag revival in Korea.

Shanghai: mineral colours, flashes of red

Shanghai Fashion Week runs 8–16 October 2026 with more than 80 shows and presentations, per Vogue. Shanghai Daily’s runway report described “a muted, mineral palette. Dusty blue, moss green, ivory, brick red and burnt orange,” and “a deep red ensemble” that “caught the light with a lacquer-like sheen.” China’s other big accessory story is the bag charm; see bag charms in China and Korea.

Wear it

Tokyo’s formula is simple to copy: all black or all brown, and one soft, furry bag. The Fluff bag in brown or black is real Mongolian lamb; red picks up Shanghai’s brick and lacquer reds. We ship to Japan, Korea and the rest of Asia; see shipping to Asia.
