Shipping a jelly bag to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf

Updated August 2026

Two numbers decide whether buying from abroad is worth it: what the shipping costs, and what you get asked for at the door. Here are both, per country, with nothing rounded in our favour.

What shipping costs

£15 tracked, per order — not per item. That covers Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar. Two bags and three charms in one order still cost £15 to ship, which is worth knowing before you split an order across two checkouts.

Orders are hand-packed and dispatched the next working day. Transit is usually 5–10 working days after that. The Star Tote is made to order and ships within 14 days, so an order containing one moves at its pace.

Customs duty: usually nothing

This is the part most people expect to be worse than it is. Saudi Arabia allows SAR 1,000 of personal imports free of customs duty, and a single bag plus shipping is well under that — a £90 bucket with £15 shipping is roughly SAR 505. So on a normal order, duty is not charged.

The Gulf states share a 5% common external tariff where duty does apply, but at the order sizes we ship, it usually doesn't.

VAT: yes, and it is payable on delivery

This is the honest part. VAT is charged by your government, not by us, and unlike duty it applies from the first riyal or dirham:

  • Saudi Arabia — 15%. On a £90 bag with £15 shipping, expect roughly £26 at the door once the courier's clearance fee is added. Total landed cost ≈ £131.
  • Bahrain — 10%. Roughly £24 at the door.
  • UAE and Oman — 5%. Roughly £19 at the door. The UAE also has an AED 300 threshold below which small parcels clear free, though a bag order is above it.
  • Kuwait and Qatar — no VAT. Your courier may still charge a small clearance fee.

We don't include this in the checkout price because we aren't the ones collecting it. What we do instead is say so before you pay: the cart shows a notice for these destinations rather than letting the number arrive unannounced with the parcel.

Two things that prevent a delayed parcel

  • Give a working mobile number. Gulf deliveries run on phone contact rather than postcodes. A missing number is the most common reason a parcel sits at a depot.
  • Saudi Arabia: have your National ID or Iqama to hand. Customs can ask for it to clear a personal import. Your courier will contact you if it's needed.

Returns from the Gulf

14 days from delivery, unused and in original condition. Return shipping is at your cost unless the item is faulty — worth factoring in at this distance, which is why the size guide is worth two minutes before ordering.

One thing worth checking before you buy anything

If you live in the Gulf, the material matters more than it does almost anywhere else. Cheap PVC yellows, stiffens and turns tacky in sustained heat and sun; TPU holds up far longer. Every jelli.world bag is TPU. The full explanation is in jelly bags in hot weather and TPU vs PVC.
