Milan Fashion Week SS27: the bags to know

The bag ideas that came out of Milan in September 2026, and the one bag the street-style crowd couldn’t put down.

Short answer: Milan for spring/summer 2027 split into two moods: flat, sculptural east-west shapes (Prada) and big, soft, slouchy bags with almost no hardware (Max Mara), with Fendi piling fringe and sequins onto the Baguette and Marni wearing small bags like charms. Max Mara’s brown, sand and black slouch is the easiest to wear now; our Fluff bag does it in curly lamb.

Prada: flat, long-handled, east-west

Vogue Arabia saw “flattened shapes, sculptural proportions and elongated handles,” then “sharp flashes of green, red and purple that made neutrals feel dated.” Harper’s Bazaar Arabia read it as Prada “bringing back the east-west bag.” Our East West jelly bags are the playful version of that silhouette.

Fendi: the Baguette, maximal

Maria Grazia Chiuri layered “sequins, pattern and generous fringe” onto the Baguette. Vogue Arabia’s summary: “restraint can wait. Texture, craft and ornament are back in the conversation.”

Max Mara: an everyday bag, blown up

Deep brown, sandy neutrals and black appeared throughout the runway, often with very little visible hardware. An everyday bag, deliberately blown out of proportion.

Marni: bags as charms

FLAIR noted that at Marni “several smaller bags were grouped together and worn almost like oversized charms.” It’s the runway cousin of the bag-charm habit; see how bag charms are evolving in China and Korea.

On the street: the Baguette

British Vogue’s Milan street-style report: “one nostalgic bag style was practically everywhere: the Carrie Bradshaw-approved Fendi Baguette,” alongside red shoes as “the street-style set’s answer to this year’s pop of colour trend.”

Wear it

For winter, take Max Mara’s soft volume in a dark neutral: the Fluff bag in brown, sand or black. For red or purple, see the colours of winter 2026.

The Fendi Baguette. British Vogue said the “Carrie Bradshaw-approved Fendi Baguette” was “practically everywhere” on the streets in September 2026.

Sharp green, red and purple at Prada; deep brown, sandy neutrals and black at Max Mara; powdery tones, gold, cream, brown and green at Etro; fuchsia at Gucci.
