The Softest Bag of Winter

Winter clothes are smooth. One soft thing changes the outfit.

By October, the street turns to wool. Camel, charcoal, black. Coats get longer, colours get quieter, and everything starts to look the same.

Then someone walks past carrying fur.

The autumn runways got there first. Fendi, as Schön! reported, showed its Baguette in plush shearling for AW26. Vogue noted plush textures giving "cloud-like softness" to tote bags.

The Fluff bag is Mongolian lamb. That means long, curly wool still on the skin it grew on: fur, not fabric, and not faux. It is 45 centimetres wide and comes in six colours, three quiet (sand, grey, brown) and three not (red, purple, black).

It works because winter clothes are smooth. Fur breaks up wool and leather. Against a long grey coat, the grey Fluff reads as texture, not colour. Against black, the red one becomes the whole outfit.

One rule: one fluffy thing at a time. If the bag is fur, the coat isn't.

The colour does the rest. Sand sits with camel and cream. Grey sits with charcoal and looks expensive without trying. Brown fits the chocolate and olive of the season. Purple and black are for evenings, when the light is low and texture matters more than shade.

The handles are long enough to carry by hand or wear on the shoulder, over a coat.

Care is simple. Shake it out after a day so the curls lift. Spot clean with a barely damp cloth. Use your fingers, not a brush, which pulls the curl straight. Keep it out of the rain and away from radiators, which dry out the skin.

For wet days there is jelly, which is water-resistant, not waterproof. Rain wipes off. On a dry day, carry the fur. On a wet one, carry the jelly.
